Who is Jonathan Joestar?
Jonathan is the man who started the whole saga — the original JoJo of Phantom Blood. Raised as a kind, honorable young English gentleman on the Joestar estate, he grows up believing the best of everyone, including his adoptive brother Dio Brando. When Dio’s cruelty curdles into outright betrayal and he transforms himself into a vampire, Jonathan is forced to become a warrior. He is courageous, unfailingly decent, and self-sacrificing almost to a fault.
Fighting style: Hamon
To stand a chance against an undying vampire, Jonathan trains in Hamon, also called the Ripple — a martial art that channels sunlight-like energy through controlled breathing. Because Hamon mimics the power of sunlight, it is devastating against Dio and his creatures. In Jonathan’s hands it becomes a disciplined, defensive style built on willpower and heart rather than raw ferocity.
