JoJo: Golden Spirit Fighting Styles & Combat System

Every unit in JoJo: Golden Spirit has a fighting style, and building around a balance of styles is what makes a team work. Here’s how the combat system fits together.

The six fighting styles

Golden Spirit sorts units into six fighting styles, each with unique combat effects. Two are confirmed so far:

  • Fighting — front-line offense (e.g. Prosciutto, Chaka, Tarkus).
  • Support — buffs, heals and utility for the team (e.g. Giorno Giovanna, Lang Rangler).

We’ll add each style with its role as the remaining four are confirmed.

The two combat pillars

Fights are shaped by two pillars:

  • Wit — ability counterplay: timing and countering enemy skills.
  • Combat — skill synergy: chaining your units’ abilities together.

A strong formation plays both rather than leaning entirely on raw damage.

RUSH mode

When three characters of different classes fire their ultimates, the next unit enters RUSH mode for +25% final damage and a small energy restore. Mixing styles in your team is what unlocks it — a reason not to stack one style.

How to balance a formation

Aim for a mix: front-line Fighting units to hold the line, Support to keep them alive and buffed, and damage dealers to carry. See where each confirmed unit lands on the tier list, and if you’re new, start with the beginner guide.
