JoJo Golden Spirit Pity System
JoJo: Golden Spirit has not published a full rate table, but the January 2026 China closed beta gave two concrete data points: one banner ran a 2% SSR rate, and a different banner guaranteed an SSR within 30 pulls. Those are two separate banners, not two rules of one banner — the beta’s own framing was that each banner carries its own rates and its own guarantee. That single structural fact is more useful for planning than any invented ceiling.
⚠️ Where these numbers come from: press coverage of the China closed beta (“Trial of Courage”, January 29–31, 2026). Beta numbers are not launch numbers — treat them as the shape of the system, not as values to budget against. Check each live banner’s in-game rate disclosure before spending.
What a pity system actually is
Three separate mechanics get called “pity”, and conflating them is how bad advice starts:
- Hard pity — a guaranteed drop at a fixed pull count (the “90 pulls” idea).
- Soft pity — rates that quietly rise as the count climbs, before any guarantee.
- Spark / exchange — a currency you accumulate from pulls and trade for a chosen unit, independent of luck entirely.
A game can have all three, one, or none. Which of them Golden Spirit uses changes the correct spending behaviour completely, which is exactly why we are not going to assume one.
What the closed beta actually showed
Two banners, two different sets of numbers. This is the part worth reading twice, because it is where most historical pre-launch guides will get it wrong by merging them:
| Beta data point | What it does not mean |
|---|---|
| One banner had an SSR rate of 2% | Not that every banner is 2%, and not that 2% is the launch rate |
| A different banner guaranteed an SSR within 30 pulls | Not that the 2% banner had a 30-pull ceiling — these were separate banners |
Read together, they say the system is per-banner: a rate and a guarantee are set per banner rather than globally. So the practical day-one habit is to check this banner’s disclosure before pulling on it, not to carry a number over from the last one. The complete rate table across all banner types remains unpublished.
The summon sequence itself
Summoning is framed as a card game run by Daniel J. D’Arby, the Part 3 gambler: he deals a hand, the cards flip, and the resulting poker hand ranks according to the rarity you pulled. Every character has their own summon animation — including the lowest rarity, R.
That last detail is worth knowing before you spend: a distinctive animation is not a reliable tell for a high-rarity pull in this game, because every unit has one. Watch the card hand, not the flourish.
What is confirmed about summoning
Enough to plan with, as it turns out:
- Three rarities — R, SR, SSR. The closed beta ran a 50-unit roster of 11 SSR, 28 SR and 11 R.
- Duplicates convert to fragments, which raise a unit’s Star (1–5) and its stats. That is the single most important confirmed fact on this page: in Golden Spirit a “wasted” duplicate is a power gain, which lowers the cost of not getting a new unit.
- Every account starts with a free SR Joseph Joestar plus the closed pre-registration campaign currency, so nobody is summoning from an empty roster.
- The full mechanic breakdown is in the gacha guide.
Strategy that survives any pity design
These four hold whether the game ships hard pity, soft pity, a spark, or nothing:
- Bank before you spend. Pull in one concentrated block rather than as currency trickles in. Under hard pity, concentration is how you reach the counter at all. Under no pity, concentration is how you get enough samples for the rate to mean anything. It is correct in both worlds.
- Pick the target before the banner, not during it. You cannot pick by fighting style yet — no source assigns characters to the six styles — so pick by what you will actually field, and confirm the style tag on the current recruitment or character screen.
- Count your currency, not your pulls. You cannot convert 600 Astrogem into a pull count until the per-summon price is published — see currencies.
- Decide your stop line in advance. Write down the amount you will spend before you open the banner. This is the one piece of advice that gets more important if the game turns out to have no pity at all.
The day-one rule
On August 13, before your first ten-pull, check the in-game rate disclosure on the banner you are about to pull on. Most mobile markets require published drop rates, and that screen answers in thirty seconds what no historical pre-launch guide can: this banner’s SSR rate, whether it has a guarantee, and at what count. Given the beta ran different numbers on different banners, this is not a check you do once.
What remains unverified in the global build
The global rate table per rarity, whether the 2% and 30-pull figures survived from the China beta, whether any guarantee carries between banners, whether a spark/exchange shop exists, and the per-summon Astrogem price. Those turn this page from a decision framework into an actual pity guide. Until they are sourced from the global build, the beta figures above must not be used as current rates.
FAQ
Is 30 pulls the global hard pity? No. Thirty pulls was one separate China-CBT banner example and is not presented as a global rule.
Does pity carry between banners? No public evidence used here confirms carry-over. Treat each banner independently unless its live rules say otherwise.
What is the safest spending rule? Do not convert currency until the banner’s rate, guarantee, deadline and exchange conditions are visible together.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does JoJo: Golden Spirit have a pity system?
The China closed beta had one: press coverage of the January 2026 test reported a banner that guaranteed an SSR within 30 pulls, and a separate banner running a 2% SSR rate. Those were two different banners, so rates and guarantees appear to be set per banner rather than globally. No full rate table has been published for the global launch, so check the in-game rate disclosure on the banner you are pulling on.
How should I spend my first summons without knowing the rates?
Bank everything and pull in one concentrated block, and read the in-game rate disclosure before your first ten-pull. Concentration is correct under every possible pity design, and duplicates are never wasted in Golden Spirit because they convert to fragments that raise a unit Star.
